Raised in Wilton, Connecticut and schooled in Rochester, New York, violist Nick Revel has performed in some of the most prestigious halls up the East Coast. He has appeared on the stages of Seiji Ozawa Hall, Kilbourn Hall, Eastman Theater, and Carnegie Hall in Manhattan. As an active chamber musician, his group The Spectrum String Quartet advanced to the quarterfinals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In Spring 2004, Revel won the New York Viola Society’s Rosemary Glyde Scholarship. Having a strong passion for early music has led him to study and perform with the legendary Canadian-based baroque orchestra, Tafelmusik. Revel has attended music festivals including the Tanglewood Institute and the Aspen Music Festival. In 2006 he was invited to coach string quartets at the Chamber Music Institute for Young Musicians. Beyond classical music, Revel has toured with his own pop-fusion band, NeoCollage. This improvisation-based group has performed in upstate NY playing in the prestigious Glimmerglass Opera House in Cooperstown, NY, and in The Lion’s Den in Manhattan’s renowned Greenwich Village. He has performed in master classes for Michele LaCourse of Boston University, Jeffery Irvine of Cleveland Institute of Music and the Miro String Quartet. Nick currently studies at the Eastman School of Music under the instruction of John Graham. He has served as principal violists for both the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra and the Eastman Philharmonia. He will receive his Bachelor’s in Music Performance for Viola in May 2008.
